and Systems for Multimedia DSP ASIC Design and Applications

Job Description: MediaTek Inc. is a leading fabless semiconductor company for
wireless communications and digital media solutions. The company is a market
leader and pioneer in cutting-edge SOC system solutions for wireless
communications, high-definition digital TV, optical storage, and high
definition DVD products. The Los Angeles, California based Research and
Development Unit is searching for a few candidates who will lead key designand
IP development activities for multimedia content analysis, processing, search
and protection algorithms and exploitation for MediaTek solutions. Newly
developed algorithms, system architecture and applications of multimedia
content analysis and processing will be integrated to MediaTek products
seamlessly. We are looking for superior research candidates in the following
areas:
1). Multimedia content analysis and search algorithms and systems, previous
experience and knowledge in multimedia content-based retrieval, multimedia
database systems, multimedia data mining, artificial intelligence algorithms,
signal processing and pattern recognition, distributed information systems are
desired, familiarity with ASIC and FPGA hardware architectures is a big plus
and preferred.
2). Hardware architecture and design, SoC and ASIC design with DSP and
multimedia (video/audio/image) processing experience. Familiarity with
multimedia content analysis, multimedia content based retrieval and computer
vision is a plus.
3). Multimedia processing for communication and chip design, knowledge in
multimedia (video, audio/speech, text) processing technologies, video coding,
video/image processing, audio/speech processing are desired, experience with
ASIC and FPGA hardware architectures and design is a big plus and preferred.
4). Multimedia distribution systems and architectures, multimedia protection
technologies, knowledge and/or experience with various security issues of
multimedia consumption, multimedia distribution over network and communication
systems, familiarity with ASIC and FPGA hardware architectures, databasesystem
and/or networking system architecture is a plus.
Technical Skills required:
The successful candidate should have some or all areas of the following
qualifications:
* Excellent programming and debugging skills
* Strong software programming skills with C/C++/Java, knowledge and
experience of software development environments on windows and/or Linux is
desired
* Strong Hardware and VLSI design knowledge and/or experience with EDA
tools, fluent in C (matlab also preferred)
* Strong knowledge of digital signal processing and multimedia processing
algorithms
* Strong knowledge of information analysis for searching and exploitation
systems
* Database knowledge and programming is a plus
Additional Skills
* Standards experience is a plus
* Excellent team player
* Good communication and documentation/writing skills
* Self starter and able to work with team members across different areas.
Education Requirements
PhD in Electrical Engineering/Computer Science and Engineering with emphasisin
video/image/audio/text information processing and analysis with DSP and ASIC
design background; VLSI and ASIC design knowledge, training and/or
experiences is also strongly preferred.
